OUT OF THE BLUE
TO PAY THE EARTH FOR SOMETHING
TO TURN OVER A NEW LEAF
TO CUT SOMEONE DEAD
TO BEAT ABOUT THE BUSH

A: Morning Tom. You look radiant today!
B: Thanks Josh, I’m happy. Believe it or not, I just won a lottery of $500,000!
A: No kidding! Wow, that’s awesome!
B: Indeed! It happened so out of the blue. The other day I was watching TV while fixing my watch. Then came this good news on the screen, so unbelievable!
A: Congrats! You are such a lucky man! So what’s your plan, buying a new house or a new car?
B: Look! Now that I can finally turn over a new leaf, this is my first step!
A: Wow, a new shiny Rolex. You must have paid the earth for it.
B: That’s right, but I don’t care anymore. Goodbye to my damn old watch. And you know what, Julie my ex-girlfriend, the one broke up with me and cut me dead so bad since then, called me yesterday!
A: Did she? She wanna come back to you again?
B: I bet that’s why she called, but I said no!
A: Why? You were so devastated when she left you.
B: On the phone she was just beating about the bush, but I knew she had her eyes on my money, not me! I don’t wanna waste my time and my money on such a gold-digger.
A: Good for you!
